CHARACTERS
An international cast of historical and fictional characters from the U.S., Germany, France, and Italy.
The five primary characters are ages mid-20s through mid-30s (4 out of 5 are musicians).
1. EVIE
Smart, talented, uninhibited, charming all-American ingénue studies violin in Venice and searches for clues to her mysterious past and birth parents.
2. BRUNO
Internationally famous German performer/teacher, artist-in-residence at Florence’s Music Conservatory has a dangerous and lucrative sideline: arranging fake passports for fellow Germans escaping Europe.
3. PAOLO
An Italian aristocratic heartthrob from Siena who studies at Florence’s Music Conservatory and is as likable and compassionate as he is musically gifted. He is loaded with old money, talent, and charisma.
4. ANTONELLA
She is the personification of classic Mediterranean female beauty. She is strong-willed liberal activist passionate about social/political issues and she is aware of the dark clouds of war that gather.
5. FRANCESCO
University of Siena professor and another Italian with classic Italian looks. He and Antonella, sweethearts since high school, are in no hurry to marry. He is a conservative, and although he and Antonella share a love for each other, they do not share social activist views.
