BRUNO BAYER—(German)— Age early 30s. A former child music performance prodigy from Cologne, who is an international in-demand violin artist-in-residence at the Florence Music Conservatory. He is intelligent and charming with boyish good looks; he dresses more like a student than a professor. He has a dangerous sideline: he sells fake papers to German refugees.
EVIE FOSTER—(American)—Age early 20s. She is from New York City and ,via support from her rich robber-baron patron, studies music in Venice. She has been in Venice about a year; her residence hotel is a landmark of Italian luxury. She choose Venice because she believes she may discover clues related to her mysterious past.
PAOLO BANDINI—(Italian)—Age early 20s. He is an Italian aristocrat who may not be the best looking musician in Tuscany but he makes up for it in charm. Down to earth and unassuming despite his upbringing and his family’s wealth.
ANTONELLA LOMBARDI—(Italian)—Age mid 20s. She is a talented soprano performer/teacher born and raised in Siena. She’s from an upper middle class well educated family. Strong willed, compassionate, always ready to act (and re-act). She does not have an enemy in the word…except for the Fascists.
FRANCESCO BIANCHI—(Italian)—Age late 20s. He is a teaching professor and head of Siena University Archaeology Department. He is low-key, confident, slow to react, intelligent and savvy. Always the president of his class, always the first chosen at sports. Admired and respected throughout Tuscany. He and Antonella have been lovers for years but never felt the pressure to marry. Francesco, Antonella, Giordano grew up together in Siena.
ALESSANDRO BEAUMONT—(French/Italian)—Age Mid 40s, opera conductor currently at Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. He is the epitome of European charm and grace. Born in Paris, studied at the Conservatoire do Paris then in Rome at Conservatory of Santa Cecilia. He has conducted at some of the great opera houses of Europe; works mostly in Italy. However, his allegiances during this time are confusing.
